Traditional canvas artworks are stretched over a 1-1/2" wooden frame (called 'stretcher bars"). Often called a 'Gallery Wrap' or 'Museum Wrap' the painted artwork continues over all four sides to create a rich three-dimensional appearance. Artworks may hang on a wall in this manner without a frame.
A canvas artwork may also be displayed in a picture frame. Order your artwork with 5/8" deep stretcher bars if you'd like to frame it. This way it will fit easily inside a store bought or custom made picture frame.
If you plan to display your canvas artwork in a picture frame it is a good idea to color coordinate your choice of frame. The frame color should not only complement the artwork but also the decor in the room you plan to display it in. It can be a good idea to wait until you receive your canvas artwork before deciding what color frame to use.
